Photographs and images are really important when it comes to putting your thoughts in front of thousands of people. And it is so important that a good photo is considered an integral part of the web design. But there was a time when stock photos were considered ugly because we have all seen photographs of people in suits shaking hands or sitting at a table staring at pie charts.

But stock photography has evolved, and so has the stock photo websites. Right now, there are several free stock photo sites that provide you with breathtaking photos in all categories and niches. All you have to do is put in a keyword and your screen will fill with hundreds of stunning images that you can use for free.

There are paid stock photo sites available as well, and they have a much better catalog of images; but if you can’t afford to pay for the image you use at the moment, then you can use the free stock photo websites for the time being because they provide really high-quality images when you consider the fact that you are getting them for free.

Quick Note: Many of the below-mentioned stock photo websites provide photos that are free from copyright restrictions as they fall under Creative Commons public domain. This means that you can copy, modify & edit, and even distribute these photos, even for commercial purposes, without asking for permission. However, a few of these photos may require attribution. I’ve done my best to identify which websites ask for an attribution, but you should do your own research before you download the stock images!
